Poetry book “Nachi Uthok Basanta Samay” by Bitupan Dutta unveiled

DD TIMES Guwahati, January 2: The poetry collection “Nachi Uthok Basanta Samay” authored by Bitopan Dutta was formally unveiled at the Assam Publication Board’s Book Fair being held at Khanapara in Guwahati.

Published by Purulil Publication, the book was released on Tuesday in the presence of several distinguished personalities.

The unveiling ceremony was conducted by Devajit Bora, General Secretary of the Asam Sahitya Sabha.


The event marked a significant milestone for Puruleel Publication, as it released its very first book. The programme witnessed the presence of Dainandin Barta Editor-in-Chief Naren Hazarika, noted career counsellor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Assam Don Bosco University Dr. Buljit Borgohain, Sahitya Akademi Award-winning children’s writer Jugal lochan Das, General Secretary of the Assam State Primary Teachers’ Association Ratul Goswami, The Sentinel sports journalist Rajdeep Das, writer and journalist Darshana Barua, among others.Several senior journalists also attended the event, including Nikunj Nath, Dainik Asom journalist Shailen Kalita, Asomiya Pratidin journalist Ranjit Patgiri, and DB News journalist Gautam Kumar Kakoti, along with many other invited guests.

Releasing the book, Devajit Bora remarked that it was truly commendable that poet Bitopan Dutta continues to remain actively engaged in creative writing despite moving away from active journalism and embracing the teaching profession.

He added that the unveiling of books by talented writers from different parts of the state at the Guwahati Book Fair itself reflects the success and significance of the fair.


Career counsellor Dr. Buljit Borgohain stated that the journey of Puruleel Publication, which made its debut with the publication of this poetry collection by journalist-turned-writer Dimpul Chutiya (founder of the publication), would add a meaningful dimension to Assamese literature in the days to come.Expressing his happiness at being part of the occasion, Dainandin Barta Editor-in-Chief Naren Hazarika said he was delighted to witness the beginning of Puruleel Publication’s new journey and expressed hope that Bitupan Dutta’s poetry collection would be warmly received by readers.

Speaking at the event, Ratul Goswami, General Secretary of the Assam State Primary Teachers’ Association, said he felt proud to be associated with the book launch of Bitupan Dutta, who chose the noble profession of teaching after leaving active journalism.

He noted that remaining creatively engaged while being part of the teaching profession is a message of hope and pride for the teaching community.

Goswami further added that being a witness to the release of the very first book by the new publication house was a matter of great honour and expressed confidence that readers across Assam would wholeheartedly welcome the book.
