State BJP expresses concern over the Karbi Anglong incident- Appeal to avoid violence and maintain peace and harmony: State President Dilip Saikia

DD TIMES Guwahati, 24 December 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Assam Pradesh, has expressed deep concern over the violent situation that has unfolded over the past few days in Kheroni and Donkamokam in West Karbi Anglong.

In a press release issued to the media, State BJP President Shri Dilip Saikia appealed to all concerned parties to come forward to help establish peace and stability in the violence-hit Karbi Anglong region.

President Dilip Saikia urged all residents of West Karbi Anglong, including the Karbi community and other communities, to cooperate in maintaining law and order in the region. Stating that violence is not a solution to any problem, Shri Dilip Saikia called upon all concerned parties to respond positively to the three-party talks proposed by the state government.
He further stated that Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has been keeping a constant watch on the situation and is continuously making efforts to restore peace.
Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, the Director General of Police Harmeet Singh and Hon’ble Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu have been immediately deputed to Karbi Anglong to hold discussions with all stakeholders.
Shri Dilip Saikia also noted that anti-Assam and anti-national forces have been making persistent attempts to disturb peace and stability in the state.
The BJP Assam Pradesh has appealed to people of all communities in Assam to remain vigilant against such forces and to ensure that the state’s development-oriented progress is not derailed.
He further stated that in recent days, several incidents have come to light indicating a deep conspiracy by certain anti-social and anti-Assam elements to destabilize the state. Shri Dilip Saikia appealed to all concerned parties to stop such conspiracies.
Shri Dilip Saikia also expressed deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the unrest over the past three days and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
