Newly Elected Cotton University Students’ Union Takes Oath
DD TIMES Guwahati, October 14: The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office bearers of the Cotton University Students’ Union (CUSU) for the academic session 2025–26 was held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the KBR Auditorium of Cotton University.

The oath was administered by Dr. Hiren Deka, Registrar of Cotton University, in the presence of Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Eeshan Kalita, Dean of Student Welfare; Dr. Phunu Das Sarma, Director of Student Welfare; members of the Election Conduct Committee; faculty; students; and other members of the Cotton University fraternity. The event was moderated by Dr. Hiten Choudhury, the Returning Officer of the Election Conduct Committee 2025-26, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Kukil Kalpa Rajkhowa, Assistant Returning Officer.

Earlier, the results of the Cotton University Students’ Union Election 2025–26 were declared on Friday, October 10, following polling held the previous day.
Deep Shekhar Kalita was elected as President, Tuja Brahma as Vice President, Kritimoy Kashyap as General Secretary, and Mayuri Boruah as Assistant General Secretary.
Other elected office bearers include Angelina Das (Editor, Cottonian), Pabitra Boro (Boys’ Common Room Secretary), Sadhana Shrestha (Girls’ Common Room Secretary), Dipom Saha (Debating and Symposium Secretary), Nishanta Bharadwaj (Social Service Secretary), Gyandeep Tamuli (Music Secretary), Bhiolina Boro (Cultural Secretary), Deep Kaman (Football and Hockey Secretary), Nibir Muhurtta Boruah (Athletics Secretary), Bishal Baishya (Cricket Secretary), Dhanjita Ramchiary (Minor Games Secretary), and Mrinmoy Boro (Tennis, Swimming, and Gymnasium Secretary).
It is noteworthy that candidates for three positions—Boys’ Common Room Secretary, Football and Hockey Secretary, and Minor Games Secretary—were elected uncontested.
In their remarks, the newly elected members pledged to work in close coordination and cooperation for the overall development and welfare of Cotton University. The university authority expressed appreciation to all students, faculty, and staff for maintaining discipline and ensuring the smooth conduct of the election process.
