763 BRTF, BRO Launches Road Safety Awareness Campaign on Gandhi Jayanti in Collaboration with Students
Tawang, ARUNACHAL PRADESH, 3 October: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 763 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), Project Vartak, in collaboration with Govt. School Kitpi and the Tawang District Education Department, organised a Road Safety Awareness Campaign to instill discipline and responsibility among road users.
The campaign was centred around the slogan “Helmet mat bhoolo, Seat belt mat kholo, Mobile mat chalao”, echoing the principles of truth, responsibility, and self-discipline that Mahatma Gandhi stood for.
Just as Bapu emphasised the power of self-restraint and individual duty towards society, the campaign highlighted that road safety begins with personal accountability.

More than a hundred students participated enthusiastically in the programme, recognising themselves as instruments of change. They took out a spirited rally through Tawang, carrying placards, singing songs of awareness, and spreading Gandhi’s message of collective responsibility for the greater good.

Principal of the school speaking on the occasion, said: “Mahatma Gandhi taught us that small steps by individuals create big changes for society. Today, our students are learning that wearing a helmet or a seat belt is not just about law, but about valuing life.”

In a unique initiative, students also distributed symbolic
challans to parents not wearing helmets, a gentle reminder that change starts at home. One parent, after receiving the challan from his child, remarked: “When my son handed me a challan, it touched me deeply. I realised that if I don’t practice safety, I cannot expect my child to follow discipline either.”

The campaign also drew attention from the local community. A bystander watching the rally commented: “Seeing young children spread Gandhiji’s message through road safety is inspiring. It reminds us that responsible citizens are shaped from a young age.”
The event not only reinforced safe road practices but also tied them with the larger ideals of sustainable and responsible citizenship. Through such initiatives, 763 BRTF reaffirms its commitment to building not just infrastructure, but also awareness and social responsibility, in the true spirit of nation-building.
