Majuli’s Emerging Poet Popy Das Unveils Poetry Collection “Kobitar Krishnachura”

DD TIMES, Dhakuakhana, July 13: The poetry collection “Kobitar Krishnachura” by emerging poet Popy Das from Majuli was formally unveiled 13th July at Ayang Okum, located on the scenic banks of the Brahmaputra at Garamur Chitadarchuk in Majuli.

The book has been published by Purulil Prakashan, Guwahati.Speaking at the event, Syed Parvez Hossain, General Secretary of the Sadou Asom Kabi Sanmilan, praised the literary spirit of Majuli despite its recurring floods.

He remarked that although the people of Majuli face natural calamities year after year, their creativity continues to thrive. Highlighting the poetic strength of Popy Das, he said her works carry a timeless freshness and that with continued dedication, she has the potential to significantly enrich Assamese literature in the future.

The event was conducted by Jugal Hazarika, President of the Majuli District Kabi Sanmilan. The inaugural session was led by noted cultural activist Ranjit Kuma
