Zubeen Gargor Gaan Aaru Kobitar Golpo’ Unveiled

DD TIMES Nalbari, October 29: A book titled ‘Zubeen Gargor Gaan Aaru Kobitar Golpo’ has been officially unveiled, transforming the songs and poems of Assam’s beloved artist Zubeen Garg into stories.

The collection of short stories, based on Garg’s self-written and sung songs as well as his original poems, has been published by Assam Publishing Company.

Publisher Sanjay Sanyal informed that the book has received an overwhelming response from readers across the state immediately after its unveiling.

“As a tribute to Zubeen Garg, we have brought out an enriched and revised edition of ‘Zubeen Gargor Gaan Aaru Kobitar Golpo’.

The response from readers all over Assam has been heartwarming, and the feedback on Amazon is equally encouraging. In fact, due to immense love and support, the title has already been listed among this year’s bestsellers,” said Sanyal.

Authored by young novelist Neelim Akash Kashyap, a native of Nalbari, the book offers a unique creative experiment by converting several of Zubeen Garg’s most popular songs—‘Pakhi Pakhi Ei Mon’, ‘Hahile Tumi Mukutamoni Sore’, ‘Xobdo Jodi Prerana Hoy’, ‘Kar Porosh’, ‘Andha Akash Rudha Botah’, ‘Diya Ghurai Diya’ and many more—into narrative stories.

The book also reimagines Garg’s self-written poems such as ‘Chakra’, ‘Metamorphosis’, ‘Tumi’, ‘Pododhoni’ and many more in story form.

Speaking to the media, author Neelim Akash Kashyap stated, “Zubeen Gargor Gaan Aaru Kobitar Golpo is my humble tribute to the soul of Assam, Zubeen Garg.

Through this book, I have attempted to give new bodies to some of his songs and poems by retelling them as stories.

It also includes a special collection of rare photographs—from his childhood to his final days—depicting the journey of this iconic artist.”
