DD TIMES TINSUKIA, November 10, 2025: The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) Sarbananda Sonowal attended the valedictory ceremony of the two-year-long Golden Jubilee celebrations of Panitola Higher Secondary Girls’ School in Tinsukia district here sunday. The Union Minister also unveiled the school’s souvenir publication during the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “On this momentous day marking the culmination of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Panitola Higher Secondary Girls’ School, I extend my heartfelt greetings and congratulations to everyone associated with this institution. From the land donors to the founding members, I offer my sincere gratitude.”

Sarbananda Sonowal further added, “Women have always held a special place in society. Whether in India or anywhere in the world, women have made their mark through their unique strength and talent.

The Government of India has been consistently working towards women’s empowerment. A nation that truly respects its women is indeed a great nation.

Even in the Rig Veda, the mother has been given a place higher than the gods. Nature and the earth themselves are regarded as mothers. Yet, it is unfortunate that women once faced great inequality in society.

It is only after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office that the government launched several major initiatives for women’s empowerment, among which the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign has become a nationwide movement.”
Expressing his optimism for the students, the Union Minister further said, “I am confident that the students of this school are capable of realising the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) envisioned by PM Narendra Modi ji.
In the ministries under my charge — Ports, Shipping and Waterways — women have been managing key responsibilities with remarkable efficiency.
Women’s power today is taking India’s development journey to greater heights. As someone from this region, I always wish to see our area make a distinct mark on the global stage.
I firmly believe that the students of Panitola Higher Secondary Girls’ School will make this dream a reality. The young girls of today will play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future and contribute actively towards building a developed and self-reliant India during the Amrit Kaal.”
The function was also attended by MLA Ponakan Baruah, Chairman of Tinsukia Development Authority, Kajol Gohain, Chairman of Dibrugarh
