India International Dance Festival 2025 Concludes at Kalakshetra, Hosted by Darpan Dance Akademi

DD TIMES Guwahati, November 1: The India International Dance Festival (IIDF) 2025 successfully concluded its two-day run on October 30th and 31st at the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Auditorium,Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, located in Panjabari which was organized by Guwahati’s renowned Darpan Dance Akademi.

The festival presented captivating performances for two days from 4 pm to 8 pm.
Under the guidance of the Akademi’s Director, a renowned exponent of Odissi and Sattriya dance Dr. Anjana Moyee Saikia.

This special dance festival gathered numerous artists from across the nation. The performers showcased a rich repertoire of India’s classical dance forms, including Sattriya, Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri, and Kuchipudi, presented in solo, duet, trio, and group formats. The skillful and beautiful performances garnered high praise and appreciation from the attending audience.

Dignitaries Grace the occasion
the festival was dignified by the presence of several eminent figures from the arts and culture sectors as distinguished guests. These esteemed personalities included renowned Padmashree Awardee Bayanacharya Guru Ghanakanta Bora, Dr Prashanna Gogoi, Director, NEZCC Dimapur. Dr Pratibha Sharma , Director, Sattriya Kendra, SNA, Guwahati , and other guests eminent Sattriya dancer Guru Anita Sarma, Meernanda Barthakur, Bharatnattyam expart Vijay Srivastava, eminent Kathak dancers Marami Medhi, Alligunjan Kalita Mudiar, Chandrani Kalita Ojah, eminent mime artist Mainul Haque, eminent singer, composer Jayprakash Medhi, eminent Sattriya expert Ranju Moni Saikia, Rinju Moni Saikia, Ananya Talukdar, Bharatnatyam expert Anu Basumotary, Nibedita Tarafdar, Namrata Tiwari Talukdar were present, collectively enhancing the grandeur of the two-day event.
Honouring Emerging Artists
A key feature of the first day was the presentation of the Future Face Award 2024. This distinction was bestowed upon eight promising young artists whose performances in the previous year’s IIDF demonstrated exceptional quality.
The young talents were collectively awarded the ‘Future Face 2024’ title by esteemed senior artists and cultural leaders on behalf of the Darpan Dance Akademi.
The festival commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp. Following this, the organizers paid a moving tribute to the late cultural icon, Zubeen Garg, by offering floral tributes and lighting lamps before his portrait.
The proceedings of the dance event were expertly managed by a noted anchor Doli Malakar.
