DD TIMES Guwahati, 26th September 2025: Assam Cricket Association (ACA), in collaboration with the BCCI, held a press meet today chaired by BCCI Honorary Secretary Shri Devajit Saikia and ACA Secretary Shri Tridib Konwar, providing key updates on the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 matches to be hosted at ACA Stadium, Guwahati on 30th September, 3rd october, 7th October, 10 October and 29th October(subject to Pakistan not qualifying for Semi Final)

Key Highlights:

  • A special tribute to Assam’s cultural icon Zubeen Garg will be showcased before the inaugural match and during the mid-innings break of India vs Sri Lanka.
  • The Opening Ceremony on 30th September will feature performances by renowned artists Shreya Ghoshal, Angaraag “Papon” Mahanta, Joi Barua, and the Shillong Chamber Choir.
  • 5,000 tickets have been reserved exclusively for members of the Zubeen Garg Fan Club by Assam Cricket Association, available at the GSA Office, Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.
  • The opening match will witness the gracious presence of ICC Chairman Shri Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary Shri Devajit Saikia , BCCI officials, and other dignitaries.

Shri Devajit Saikia expressed gratitude to ICC Chairman Shri Jay Shah for allocating five matches to Guwahati, marking a historic moment for Assam and the Northeast. Former captains of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team since 1975 will also attend, celebrating the growth and legacy of women’s cricket in India.

BCCI Honorary Secretary Shri Devajit Saikia expressed pride in Guwahati hosting five ICC Women’s World Cup matches, calling it a historic moment for Assam and the Northeast. He highlighted the tournament’s role in inspiring young cricketers and boosting player morale, and expressed optimism that India’s women’s team could make history in this edition.

  • 4th Oct: England (2–5 PM), Bangladesh (6–9 PM)
