Centre approves 707.97 crore for Assam and Gujarat, affected by floods and landslides in 2024
Guwahati, Oct 8: A High-Level Committee under the Chairmanship of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah yesterday approves Rs 707.97 crore as additional Central assistance to Assam and Gujarat, affected by flood and landslides during 2024.

The Centre has provided this assistance from the National Disastar Response Fund (NDRF), subject to an adjustment of 50% of the opening balance for the year available in the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). Out of the total amount, Rs 313.69 crore has been approved for Assam whereas Gujarat was approved Rs 394.28 crore.
An official statement from the Union Home Ministry stated, “Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the Government is commited to standing shoulder to shoulder with the State Governments during natural calamities and disaster ensuring timely and adequate support”.
Apart from it, the Centre also approved Rs 903.67 crore to Haryana, Madya Pradesh and Rajasthan under NDRF Expansion and Modernization of Fire Services. Out of the total amount, Rs 117.19 crore has been approved for Haryana, Rs 397.54 crore for Madhya Pradesh and Rs 388.94 crore was given to Rajasthan.
In the financial year 2025-26, the Central Government has released Rs 13, 603.20 crore to 27 States under SDRF and Rs 2024.04 crore under NDRF to 12 States.
Additionally, an amount of Rs 4571.30 crore from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) was approved for 21 States and Rs 372.09 crore were released to 9 States from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF).
