Chief Minister Undertakes Zubeen Garg’s Justice Process as a National Responsibility

Guwahati, 1 October 2025: Today marks the 13th day since the passing of the beloved artist Zubeen Garg, leaving all of Assam in profound grief. Today, with the support of the people of Jorhat and under the initiative of the Government of Assam, a public homage ceremony for Zubeen Garg is being organized at the Jorhat Sports Stadium.

While the entire state mourns this irreplaceable loss, this morning, the Assam Police took into custody the two accused linked to the death of the artist. The court has already remanded the two accused to 14 days of police custody.
In a press statement issued today from the State BJP Headquarters, “Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan,” BJP State Spokesperson Kalyan Gogoi stated that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is personally overseeing the investigation into Zubeen Garg’s case in accordance with the public’s expectations of justice.

No one in Assam will be above the law. The guilty must not evade appropriate punishment, and until justice is served, neither the BJP government nor the BJP party will rest.

The investigative process will be carried out with complete accuracy, integrity, and fairness. For this reason, everyone is urged to maintain trust in the law and proceed with confidence, while staying at a safe distance from any person or force that could interfere with the investigation.

The spokesperson expressed gratitude to the people of Assam for the faith and confidence they have shown in Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma thus far. The Chief Minister has undertaken the entire justice process of Zubeen Garg as a national responsibility, a point the spokesperson emphasized.
