1st Open North-East 5×5 School and Club Basketball Tournament 2025 Concludes Successfully at Modern English School, Kahilipara

DD TIMES Guwahati, October 27, 2025: The 1st Open North-East 5×5 School and Club Basketball Tournament 2025, hosted by Modern English School, Kahilipara,from October 24 to 26, 2025, concluded with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

The three-day tournament, organised as part of the Modern School of Languages, Sports, and Performing Arts, brought together some of the finest basketball talents from across the Northeast.

The tournament comprised four main categories — Inter-School U-19 Boys, Inter-School U-19 Girls, Club Open (Men), and Club Open (Women) — all played in the globally recognized 5×5 basketball format.

A total of 25 teams participated from regions including Dhemaji, Jorhat, Dima Hasao, Shillong, Guwahati, and Tinsukia.

Winners of the competition are mentioned below:

· Inter-School Under-19 Boys Champion: St Francis De Sales Sr. Sec. School, Dhemaji

· Inter-School Under-19 Girls Champion: St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong

· Club Open (Men) Champion: Hengrabari Basketball Club, Guwahati

· Club Open (Women) Champion: D’Ravagers Club, Guwahati

Mr. Abhijit Gogoi, Organising Secretary, Modern English School, added, “The response from schools and clubs across the Northeast has been overwhelming.

Our goal was to bridge school and club-level basketball, inspiring greater commitment to the sport.

We thank all teams, referees, and the Assam Basketball Association for their support in making the event a success.”

The 1st Open North-East 5×5 Basketball Tournament 2025 stands as a landmark initiative in promoting professional basketball at the school and club levels in Assam, reinforcing Modern English School’s commitment to holistic education that blends academics with sports and performing arts.
